Kailua is an upscale town that has the best Restaurants, Beaches, and Hikes in all of Oahu.
Laniki Beach “Top 10”
One of the most beautiful beaches in the world (Obamas beach). Nice warm water 77 to 82 degrees* just like the rest of the island. This beach is a little more private then Kailua beach and less wavy because of the moku’s (the 2 islands off in a distance).
Great rental place with in walking distance of the Kailua beach. They rent kayaks, bikes, stand up paddle boards, body boards, surf boards and alot more. There are 3 islands just off shore to go out to, so lost of fun. And Kailua and Lanikia are two of the best beach on Oahu so you really cant go wrong. There is also a 3 hour guided tour out to the Mokulua Islands on Groupon for $100 for that same area.
My Notes: This is actually one of the best beaches in Oahu, and if Im not at Laniki Beach (right next too it) this is where I go. It a very active beach, very popular with the locals. There is a very shallow canal filled with tons of minnows and under the bridge there are sea houses for the kids. There are canoe rentals, and a great beach town a mile away with a Target and great food at Cinnamon’s and a cozy local pub. I stayed in this town once and with the beach, shops, and chlll people there it my favorite town in Oahu if your looking for a quite peaceful place.
Lanikai (Kaiwa Ridge) PillBox Hike
Save Location Nice short or long trail. There is no parking for this hike, just park where you can. There are several pill boxes along the ridge one after another Once you reach the first one the rest are not much of a hike just a trail. Nice view and a cool breeze once you get the the first one. The fist two pill boxes have the great view of Lanikai and the mokes the rest of the pill boxes head inward.

Save LocationShops area The Target in this town is a great starting point for the major shopping areas of this town. A lot of resturants and other shops to browse.
My Notes: Do you want to know what they will be serving in heaven? Cinnamons pancakes with guava chiffon syrup. Locals told me about this place, it is still not too touristy. Voted top 15 pancakes in the United States.
Teddys Bigger Burgers

Farmers Market in Kailua
There are many Farmers Markets in the Oahu, full of fresh fruit, yummy Hawaiian breads, and sometimes Hawaiian dishes. The Swap meet also has market food too but more spread out. Download this schedule for Waikiki \ Kailua area markets and search out others with google maps for other cities.
